Israel Unplugged: A Seattle Community Journey to Israel

At the end of May, 100 Seattleites traveled on a first-class, 8-day journey through Israel. Thank you Jacquie Bayley for being the volunteer Chair of what many expressed was a life-changing trip. Below are some reflections during the trip.

For information about future Israel travel with the Jewish Federation, please contact Anna Frankfort at AnnaF@JewishInSeattle.org or 206 774-2226.

Our TIPS Partnership with Israel

Volunteer Spotlight: Brandon Nudelman

Having Brandon Nudelman, the philanthopy chair of University of Washington’s only Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi, as a volunteer is a feather in our cap. The Jewish Federation has been lucky enough to have Brandon and his AEPi brothers recently serve as chaperones for J-Serve, the national day of service for Jewish teens, and volunteer at the Jewish Federation’s Super Sunday phone-a-thon.

Take our Jewish Community Survey!

We want to learn more about your charitable preferences, what you think are the most pressing needs in the Jewish community, and how you think the Jewish Federation should focus its efforts. Your participation will help us shape how we continue to build our community in the future. Deadline: June 6.

Phone-a-thon Raises $50,000

Wednesday night's 7th Inning Stretch Phone-a-thon was an amazing success! A big thanks to all the volunteers, including a dozen teens from BBYO, that helped out. Together, we raised over $50,000 toward our 2010 Community Campaign.

Our guest speaker, Searle Brajtman, shared some very compelling stories about the conditions for Jews in the former Soviet Union and the impact our funds make. Searle is one of the longest-serving members of JDC's FSU team and has traveled extensively throughout the former Soviet Union, from the Baltics in the west to Kamchatka in the east.
