For Jewish Educators: Hebrew as a Second Language
Please join the Jewish Federation and Denny Sargent, a senior instructor at the School of Teaching ESL for Practical Second Language Teaching Techniques: A Two-Part Workshop on Student Centered, Task-based Language Acquisition Pedagogy on February 9 and 23 from 6-9pm.
In these two sessions, you will get to know several methodologies at play in second language instruction. As you move your students into mastery of a second language, you can make sure that it is acquired as well as learned. This process can be enhanced by using techniques and activities that motivate, reinforce and help students master functions in that target language. These student-centered, task-based language activities not only increase effectiveness of teaching time but make teaching more fun, more relaxing and provide more time for teachers to mentor and assess students’ progress.
Please RSVP to BlairF@JewishInSeattle.org by February 1. Clock hours, STARS and JTC credits available.
