We are heartened and inspired by the ruling of U.S. District Judge James Robart in response to the President’s Executive Order on Immigrants and Refugees. Judge Robart issued a temporary restraining order to halt enforcement of the President’s order -- in response to the lawsuit filed by Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson. Ferguson argued that the President’s travel ban, targeting Muslims, violates the constitutional rights of immigrants and their families. Judge Robart’s ruling will stand nationwide.
This ruling is an inspiration to all fighting for the civil and human rights of refugees--everyone who made a phone call, held a sign, attended a rally, walked in a march, or wrote a letter. Together, our voices have power. We will continue to stand with refugees and immigrants. Their story is our story - a Jewish story, an American story, a human story.
