YLD Main Event Goes Virtual

For the first time in almost thirty years, we're saving costs by not doing our annual Main Event fundraiser, and taking our important fundraising work virtual! We're asking for your support now because there is no time or resources to waste. And to ensure that we are able to raise the million dollar goal, we are asking everyone to help by giving a gift or giving another small increased gift. We're shooting for 100 donors from Young Leadership. Will you help?

Also for the first time ever, we're letting you decide where you want to make a difference! While giving to the unrestricted, community campaign helps ensure that our entire Jewish community is supported, we understand that having a choice matters to you. So, where do you want to make a difference?

HELP OFF-SET THE COSTS FOR EITHER PROJECT AREA BELOW:

LOCAL GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS:

Thanks to generous contributions from donors, the Jewish Federation helps protect our local Jewish community through advocacy—fighting discrimination and bigotry, securing state and federal funds for community organizations, enhancing security and supporting services for those in greatest need. Just this year, our lobbyist successfully advocated for a bill that expanded the definition of a "threat" for Washington's hate crime statute. Prior to our lobbyist's hard work in Olympia, the statutory definition of a "threat" did not include immediate threats to cause bodily harm, which made it harder for prosecutors to prosecute numerous malicious harassment cases. Give Now.

OVERSEAS RESCUE EFFORTS:

Over 60,000 Jews live in countries where their lives are at risk — and your donation helps them stay safe.

When war erupted last year between Russia and Georgia, thousands were displaced. Among them was Nodari Putkaradze. Nodari and his family were at home when they heard an explosion. They barely escaped as their house collapsed around them. As they ran to shelter, a bomb blast threw Nodari against a wall, critically injuring him.

The doctor's much smaller wife somehow heaved him over her back and carried him to the hospital 3 miles away. All around them, people were fleeing the onslaught of the Russian Army. At the hospital, doctors managed to save Nodari's life. Over the next few days, Nodari and hundreds of other Jews from the conflict zone were evacuated to the capital, Tbilisi, and out of harm's way.

Returning home after the conflict, Nodari and his family had nothing—no clothes, no food, nowhere to go. "The Jewish community rescued us," Nodari said. "They brought us everything we needed so we could start over." Give Now.

GIVE UNRESTRICTED:

The top two options are directed giving opportunities. But we also encourage you to give generally to the Community Campaign, because it's the best way to reach the most people in need.

Help us show that YLD can make a difference and let's get to 100 donations. Give Now.
