For Grant Seekers
The Jewish Federation distributes approximately $10 million a year to dozens of nonprofit agencies in Seattle, Israel and worldwide. Most of the money is distributed through our Community Campaign and our endowment funds. Grantees of the Community Campaign are called partner agencies and are fairly consistent from year to year.
There are a few other funding opportunities:
• Emergency Capital Needs Fund
• Special Initiatives Fund
• Scholarships for individuals for Jewish overnight camps, trips to Israel and select conferences and trainings.
Emergency Capital Needs Fund
The Emergency Capital Needs Fund assists Jewish community institutions, agencies and synagogues in Western Washington with emergency capital repairs or replacements, including physical plant equipment. The Capital Needs Committee may make grants up to $25,000 and/or loans up to $50,000.

Special Initiatives Fund
The Special Initiatives Fund of the Jewish Federation Endowment Fund was set up as a means of making grants to Jewish nonprofit organizations in the greater Puget Sound region that are not already a grantee of the Jewish Federation.
The goal of the fund is to make smaller grants to agencies for innovative programs, one-time needs or expansion of service delivery. Capital projects are not funded.
There are two funding components to the Special Initiatives Fund:
The Small and Simple Grants Process which makes one-time grants of no more than $5,000 to programs that are new, innovative, program expansions or one-time needs; and,
The Long-Term Community Impact Grants for projects that will have sustainable impact on our community. The long-term community impact grants are funded for up to two years with a match component required in year two. The first of these was awarded in 2007 to Jewish Family Service for their addiction-recovery program.
