As we prepare to celebrate Chanukah, the story of the Maccabees calls to mind the power of unity and courage. In the face of overwhelming challenges, the Maccabees stood together to protect their faith and their future. Their determination ensured that the light of Judaism would continue to illuminate the world for generations to come.
In many ways, the story of the Maccabees echoes in the work we do together as a community. Like them, we confront challenges—rising antisemitism, threats to Jewish continuity, and moments of crisis in Israel and around the world. Yet, just as the Maccabees did, we persist, drawing strength from one another.
The Federation’s work embodies this enduring spirit. Over the past year, we have convened our community in moments of joy, learning, and strength. From bringing PJ Library into the homes of thousands of children each month, to supporting rising leaders, we’ve ignited sparks of connection and hope across Jewish Puget Sound. These connections ensure that Jewish life remains vibrant and accessible for everyone, from our youngest learners to our most seasoned leaders.
Chanukah reminds us that even the smallest flame has the power to dispel the deepest darkness. We live in a world where there is such darkness at times, and through our work we try to bring light to our community and the world around us.
We invite you to join us in bringing more light into the world by making a year-end gift to support our vital work today.
As we light the menorah this week, may the glow of each candle remind us of the strength we can find when we come together. The work of the Federation is a partnership with you—one that ensures the next generation will also experience the joy, connection, and pride of being part of a thriving Jewish community.
Let us continue to spread light together and brighten the path forward for all.
