In today’s issue of The Seattle Times, the Jewish Community Relations Council of our Jewish Federation was proud to have a guest opinion piece, Israel at 75: The view from Seattle’s Jewish community. This piece was a collaboration between our professional team and three JCRC leaders representing diverse perspectives from Jewish Puget Sound: Randy Kessler, Regional Director of StandWithUs Northwest, Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg of Kol Ami: A Center for Jewish Life, and Rabbi Daniel Weiner of Temple De Hirsch Sinai.
The JCRC worked to publish this opinion piece with the guidance and support of the JCRC’s Israel Affairs Committee to serve several of their core goals: helping educate about the deep religious and historical connection that Jews have with the land of Israel and the importance of preserving Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, sharing a multifaceted narrative supporting a two-state solution, and encouraging substantive, civil discourse about American Jewry’s relationship with and diverse viewpoints about Israel in the months and years ahead.
This effort is a beautiful example of the power of JCRCs—what can happen when we collaborate toward shared goals. We extend our deep gratitude to Randy Kessler, as well as Rabbis Kinberg and Weiner for their time, energy, and commitment to make this happen!
Wishing you all an early and very sweet Shanah Tovah,
Max Patashnik
Director of JCRC and Government Affairs
